The Ravens completed a trade with the Eagles for center Cam Jurgens this week and they handled the final steps before the deal was done differently than their last high-profile attempt at a swap.
When the Ravens and Raiders agreed to a deal that would send defensive end Maxx Crosby to Baltimore in March, it was announced before a physical was completed. The Ravens failed Crosby when that physical took place at their facility and the deal fell through as a result.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Ravens sent a pair of doctors to Philadelphia to perform Jurgens’ physical at the Eagles’ facility on Wednesday. Once Jurgens passed the physical, the deal was done and announced. Schefter added that other teams may now opt to take this step instead of announcing trades that have been agreed upon pending a physical.
While Jurgens passed the physical, he will not play for the Ravens in Week 5 as he remains in the concussion protocol. The team expects him to be cleared in time to play in Week 6.
