Report: Broncos looking to trade tight end, Cardinals reject request for Trey McBride

Denver wants to acquire a veteran tight end before Tuesday’s trade deadline, but that tight end doesn’t seem to be Arizona’s Trey McBride.

The Broncos have checked in with several teams about potential tight ends they could trade, and that includes the Cardinals, who have told the Broncos they are not interested in the McBride tradeaccording to ESPN.

McBride is 26 years old and under contract through 2029, so it’s no surprise the Cardinals consider him part of their future, though there’s no harm in one GM calling another to see if a player is available. If the Broncos think there’s a chance they could land him, it’s smart to ask.

The Broncos’ leading tight end, Evan Engram, has just 13 catches for 136 yards this season. Sean Payton would love to get more production from the tight end position than that. It wouldn’t be a surprise if several more teams with potentially available veteran tight ends hear from the Broncos between now and Tuesday.
