Trey McBride is effectively untouchable in Arizona, but that doesn’t seem to have stopped some rivals from trying.
The Denver Broncos recently checked in about the possibility of a trade for Cardinals tight end McBride, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday. However, the Cardinals have reportedly made it “very clear” that they have no intention of trading McBride, and so the Broncos have turned their attention elsewhere in the crowded market.
Fans immediately reacted to the shocking news on social media. Many joked that Arizona must have laughed at Denver right away on the phone when they asked about McBride.

McBride, 26, is one of the NFL’s elite, especially from a pass-catching standpoint. He is now a multi-time Pro Bowl selection and currently leads the league with 66 receptions to go along with 544 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
The 6-foot-4 McBride also has notable connections to the Broncos’ home state. He was born in Greeley, Colo. and attended college at Colorado State University.
As for the 6-2 Broncos, tight end is perhaps their single biggest position of need. Evan Engram currently listed as the TE1 on their depth chart, but he only has 13 catches for 136 yards and one touchdown this season.
You probably can’t blame Denver for at least taking their shot before the trade deadline on November 10. In fact, that might not have been the Broncos’ most outrageous pursuit of a player last year.
