The Eagles’ list of injured players continues to grow, and things are getting particularly dicey on the offensive line front. It was reported Monday night that former center turned left guard Cam Jurgens had self-reported concussion symptoms earlier in the day, and is now in the protocol, according to NFL insider Mike Garafolo.
Sunday’s game against the Rams really highlighted what a bad position the Eagles are in with their OL depth, and Jurgens being sidelined only adds to the issue. The new left guard stepped in for Landon Dickerson when the original LG went on IR after Week 1, but Jurgens has really struggled in his new role. Head coach Nick Sirianni was asked Monday if he considered benching Jurgens, but he said publicly that he was pleased with Jurgens.
Heading into training camp, the Eagles’ offensive line is Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, and Lane Johnson. Going into their Week 4 game against the Rams, the starting OL is Jordan Mailata, Cam Jurgens, Drew Kendall, Tyler Steen, and Markel Bell.
Lane Johnson sat out Sunday’s game due to personal reasons, and Fred Johnson was inactive due to injury. Drew Kendall went into the medical tent at one point during the game, but thankfully made it back and finished the game, but there’s a chance he wasn’t fully healthy either.
Entering the week the team only had Willie Lampkin and Micah Morris as active backups, and they would have to turn to one of them to replace Jurgens if he couldn’t make the trip to London.
