Maxx Crosby to the Cowboys rumors continue.
It’s coming from the edges, but it’s coming. We don’t hear Adam Schefter or Ian Rapoport or any of ESPN’s main speakers touting a potential Dallas Cowboys trade that would bring in star pass rusher Maxx Crosby. But there are rumblings, and with the Raiders slumping after a four-game losing streak, perhaps ready to go full-on rebuilding mode after a 3-0 start, maybe it’s time to revive the NFL trade that wouldn’t die, the one that was close in February and March until the Ravens came in with an offer that was accepted–until Baltimore pulled the physical deal.
The Cowboys almost had Maxx Crosby this winter, and here we are, seven months later, and there’s still plenty of chatter that Dallas will explore that move before the Nov. 10 trade deadline.
Cowboys ‘Are Gonna Gona Get Maxx Crosby’
The latest in bold predictions comes from former Cowboys scout Bryan Broaddus, who has been known to make bold predictions that sometimes hit and sometimes faltered. But on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Broaddus not only floated the possibility, but said he thinks the Cowboys will pull it off. The fact that the team doesn’t have anyone on the sideline who can get to the quarterback makes it so.
Broaddus said: “You don’t have a pass rush. You really don’t, and it’s a shame it didn’t pan out like we all thought it would. But, I want to make a bold prediction—I think they’re going to get Maxx Crosby. I think they’re going to get Maxx Crosby.”
Down Draft Capital
A quick cost-benefit analysis for the Cowboys: Crosby has a knee issue, even though he’s playing through it. He saw a dip in production (1.5 sacks in the season opener, 0.5 since) but remains the top edge rusher in the league. The Cowboys have a first- and second-round pick to offer in 2027, and have already traded their 2028 second-rounder. They only have two picks after the first two rounds next year.
Trading for Crosby would further erode their draft capital.
But it’s not just Broaddus. Former Washington Post insider Jason La Canfora continues to push the idea of Crosby to the Cowboys. And so did Mike Fisher, a longtime Cowboys reporter, writing on Twitter/X that the Cowboys would make a move if the price was right: “I’ve predicted all along the #Cowboys will circle back wa Maxx offer. But 2 premium picks would be an OVERPAY.”
Stay focused.
