Panthers news: Bryce Young injury concerns after struggling all night against Packers

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young addressed his knee injury part of his struggles in Thursday night’s loss to the Packers.

The Carolina Panthers suffered a 27-19 loss against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football. Panthers quarterback Bryce Young had a rough night, getting sacked six times and throwing an interception on Green Bay’s defense.

Panthers coach Dave Canales believes Young’s knee, which he hurt in Week 3, affected his quarterback’s performance. However, Young was quick to brush it aside when asked about the status of his knee after the game.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” Young said according to the team’s official website. “Everybody’s dealing with something at this point of the year. It’s football. There’s no reason like that; to go out there and play. I’m blessed to be able to do that. That’s all that matters.”

Young’s struggles aren’t all his own, though. For one, the Packers’ defense has been good at getting to the quarterback this season, even without star pass rusher Micah Parsons. With their performance Thursday night, the Packers now lead the NFL with 22 sacks. Furthermore, the Packers’ pass rush also went up against a Panthers offensive line that was missing several key pieces in right tackle Taylor Moton and left guard Damien Lewis.

Young’s reduced mobility, the Packers’ ferocious pass rush, and the Panthers’ patchy O-line all played into Young’s subpar outing Thursday night. However, with the Panthers set to take another tight pass rush on the Broncos (21 sacks) in Week 9, those other factors will need to improve somehow if they want to snap their two-game losing streak at home against Denver.
