Vikings-Dolphins Second Injury Report | Everyday Norseman

The Minnesota Vikings and Miami Dolphins released their second injury reports ahead of their Sunday afternoon matchup at US Bank Stadium. Here they are.

Injury Report Terms and Glossary

Definitions of damage assignment:

Probable = the league defines a Probable injury designation as a 75% or greater chance of playing. Historically, 95% of players designated as probable are active and playing on game day.

Doubtful = the league defines a Doubtful injury designation as ‘uncertain’ whether or not the player will play. This replaces the previous definition of having a 50% chance to play. Historically, 70-75% of players with a Questionable injury designation are active and played on game day.

Doubtful = The league designates a Doubtful injury designation as meaning the player is unlikely to participate in the game. In practical terms, teams use the designation when a player has less than a 50% chance to suit up, and active game appearances from this designation remain rare. Historically, only about 6% of players with a Doubtful designation are active and playing on game day.

Out = will not play. Players with this designation are inactive on game day and are prohibited by league rules from playing.

For the Vikings, Justin Jefferson did not practice again, suggesting things are trending toward him not playing Sunday. My guess is it’s a playoff game, Jefferson will play. But with the Dolphins in week four at home, the Vikings may be wary of Jefferson and not rush him back. It is also possible that he will be active on Sunday but on a pitch count if he feels good and can practice on Friday.

Other than that, Aaron Jones is back in practice but Blake Cashman’s elbow is still limited. I don’t think that will stop him from playing on Sunday, though. Punter Brett Thorson is still not practicing and I think it’s a good bet that the Vikings call Johnny Hekker back from the practice squad to handle the punter/holder duties for another week.

For the Dolphins, starting center Aaron Brewer was demoted to limited with a hand injury on Thursday. Not sure if that’s something that will hold him back or not, but the downgrade makes his status on Friday even more interesting. Other than that, it looks like backups Beal and Douglas are trending away.
