Vikings-Dolphins First Injury Report | Everyday Norseman

The Minnesota Vikings and Miami Dolphins released their first injury reports ahead of their Sunday afternoon matchup at US Bank Stadium. Here they are.

Injury Report Terms and Glossary

Definitions of damage assignment:

Probable = the league defines a Probable injury designation as a 75% or greater chance of playing. Historically, 95% of players designated as probable are active and playing on game day.

Doubtful = the league defines a Doubtful injury designation as ‘uncertain’ whether or not the player will play. This replaces the previous definition of having a 50% chance to play. Historically, 70-75% of players with a Questionable injury designation are active and played on game day.

Doubtful = The league designates a Doubtful injury designation as meaning the player is unlikely to participate in the game. In practical terms, teams use the designation when a player has less than a 50% chance to suit up, and active game appearances from this designation remain rare. Historically, only about 6% of players with a Doubtful designation are active and playing on game day.

Out = will not play. Players with this designation are inactive on game day and are prohibited by league rules from playing.

For the Vikings, a shorter list but they are all starters. The main injured player was Justin Jefferson, who missed most of the Bucs game with an ankle sprain. The view is that if things go well this week, he will play on Sunday.

Jordan Mason remains out and Aaron Jones is taking a well-earned rest day. Blake Cashman’s injury seems like something he’ll work through instead of something that keeps him out of Sunday’s game. And if Brett Thorson can’t go, the Vikings have Johnny Hekker on the practice squad and can bring him up if needed.

For the Dolphins, it’s a longer list but most are either non-starters or minor injuries that likely won’t keep players out of Sunday’s game.

The main loss for the Dolphins this past weekend was the return of De’Von Achane, their best player on offense, who suffered an ACL tear over the weekend and is on IR for the rest of the season. Storm Duck- is that a real name? – is officially on the PUP list but could return for Sunday’s game. Backup cornerback Darrell Baker Jr. is also on the PUP list and may return this week as well.

We’ll see how the week goes for Justin Jefferson and provide further updates on Thursday and Friday.
