Andy DaltonThe short tenure of the Philadelphia Eagles not long.
The Eagles released Dalton and included Tanner McKee and Cole Payton as Jalen Hurts‘ backup at quarterback, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. Garafolo added that the Eagles still want to keep him, perhaps as a member of the practice squad.
It doesn’t close the door on Andy Dalton’s #Eagles tenure. They have a lot of injuries and need his spot. Could still come back, even through a training-squad spot, said a source in the know.

The Eagles acquired Dalton from the Carolina Panthers in a March trade that saw them give up a 7th-round pick. He threw just one pass for the Eagles, and it turned out to be a key interception while Hurts was being evaluated for a concussion.
Dalton has had a long and accomplished career, but it may be coming to an end. He’ll be 39 at the end of the month, though he’s shown over the past few years in Carolina that he can be a competent veteran backup.
Dalton threw 254 career touchdowns and 152 career interceptions. He went 1-6 as a starter for the Panthers over the past three seasons.
