The Green Bay Packers are fighting to get a “Thursday Night Football” victory over the Carolina Panthers to open Week 8 of the 2026 NFL season.
The Packers’ efforts to do so are witnessed by a group of Milwaukee Brewers players, who are celebrating the franchise’s first World Series win.

The Brewers’ presence came just one day after the team wrapped up its World Series title with a 4-1 Game 5 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. They came onto the field after the first quarter with the Commissioner’s Trophy and were greeted by a chorus of cheers from the Lambeau Field crowd.
Brandon Woodruff carried the trophy onto the field for the Brewers while players like Christian Yelich and Sal Frelick were also on hand for the celebration. Frelick took his chance on the field to attempt a Lambeau Leap, and was warmly greeted by the crowd.

The Packers are hoping they can follow in the Brewers’ footsteps as Green Bay navigates the remainder of the 2026 NFL season. The Packers enter their Week 8 game with a 4-3 record and are currently ranked No. 7 seed of the NFC in the very early NFL playoff picture.

The Packers became the No. 7 seed in the NFC three years running and picked up just one playoff win in that span. They haven’t been to the Super Bowl since Aaron Rodgers led the team to a victory in Super Bowl 45, which was contested after the 2010 NFL season.
With the Brewers’ win, the Packers now have the longest title drought in the state of a major professional men’s sports team in Wisconsin. The Milwaukee Bucks captured the 2021 NBA title on the shoulders of a “Big 3” consisting of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday.
