Darnold struggled to lead the Seahawks’ offense on Monday. Seattle lost badly at home to a surging Bears team.
The Seattle Seahawks were defeated by the Chicago Bears on Monday. Seattle lost 34-17, and Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold struggled. Darnold opened after the game about why he couldn’t get a handle on defensive pressure.
“I feel like there’s nothing we can do… ..credit those guys. They have a good plan. They executed at a high level,” Darnold said, according to ESPN. “…..I always think it starts with first and second down efficiency.”
Darnold may be daydreaming about the Bears’ defensive players. Jeffery Simmons in particular seemed to chase Darnold around the field all night.
“Per ESPN Research, Sam Darnold was pressured on 14 of 39 downs against Chicago. While pressured, he went just 1 of 11 for 13 yards and an interception,” ESPN reporter Brady Henderson posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Chicago is now 6-2 after the win.
The Seahawks were humbled by the Bears
The Seahawks couldn’t find a rhythm on offense. Seattle struggled to run the ball; the team finished the game with just 81 rushing yards. Seattle went just 1-for-11 on third down conversions.
“We lost. There’s no other way to sugar coat it,” Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said, according to the Associated Press. “When you look at the things it takes to win our league, we didn’t do those things and they did.”
Simmons was recently traded to the Bears from the Tennessee Titans. He’s obviously fired up and ready to go on Monday.
“When I attacked the field, I wasn’t worried about the trade,” Simmons said. “I’m not worried about all the noise outside. All I’m worried about is game after game, just giving the team everything I’ve got.”
The Seahawks are coming off a season in which they won a Super Bowl title. Things are looking sour for the team right now; the squad has dropped three of their last four contests.
Seattle is now 4-4 on the season. The team next plays the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
