Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson was an unexpected scratch from Sunday’s lineup and head coach Nick Sirianni didn’t shed any light on his outlook moving forward in a press conference after the 24-20 loss to the Rams.
The Eagles announced that Johnson was questionable to play for personal reasons before he was placed on the inactive list. Sirianni did not elaborate on when the team learned Johnson might not be able to play — they did not elevate any additional offensive linemen Saturday — or share anything about the reason for the absence.
“I think you guys know he’s dealing with something personal and that’s really all I’m going to say about that,” Sirianni said.
Johnson also lost time in the the start of training camp and said his mother was dealing with some health issues when he returned to the team. Sunday’s loss dropped the Eagles to 18-30 with Johnson miss the time compared to his 122-63-1, so they’ll be hoping that the absence is not extended.
