NFL Insider Reveals Where Things Sit With Trade-Linked WR

Kevin O’Connell and the Vikings shake up the roster with two Super Bowl champions.

Minnesota Vikings wideout Jauan Jennings has been the subject of trade discussion for the past few days. However, The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero believes Jennings isn’t going anywhere before the trade deadline.

Jennings has been the subject of several trade rumors recently, as the Vikings look to upgrade their wide receiver depth. They were able to bring in Odell Beckham Jr., and also hosted wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster for a workout earlier this week.

Furthermore, it was reported that Jennings and coach Kevin O’Connell had an argument on the sideline. These optics only added to the potential trade speculation. Jennings could obviously use another start, and the Vikings are certainly exploring options for wide receiver depth.

However, Pelissero doesn’t believe Jennings will be traded before the deadline.

“I don’t expect Jauan Jennings to go anywhere. I expect him to be with the team after the bye.” There must have been a trade interest in him. That’s typical when players have the low level of production that Jauan has had so far this season, other teams start calling. But I believe that will be on the roster. I believe there is more to it. “

Jennings Didn’t Make It For The Vikings

Jennings has been quiet in terms of production for the Vikings up to this point. He has two catches for nine yards this season. He averaged 4.5 yards per reception. These numbers are quiet despite what he did with the San Francisco 49ers last season, when he was one of their top targets.

Coach Kevin O’Connell defended Jennings publicly. The coach indicated that the receiver’s run blocking is a huge asset. Although, he has not been able to serve the role in terms of offensive production. Jennings could be a player who steps up while Jordan Addison is out with a hamstring injury. However, that did not materialize.

Jauan Jennings had success with the 49ers

O’Connell mentioned following Sunday’s game that the team might try to get the ball more than Jennings. He could succeed based on past numbers from the 49ers.

Check out his 2025 numbers, for example. The wide receiver was targeted 35 times on third downs and converted 19 of those. That’s a 54.3% third-down conversion rate. It’s worth noting that these numbers are from his time with the 49ers, where he had bigger goals. Still, the 49ers clearly know how to use him

Breaking it down a bit, he also made the most of his catches in terms of scoring. He caught 55 passes in 2025. Nine of those passes were touchdowns. That conversion rate placed him sixth in the NFL in terms of touchdown-to-reception ratio. The ratio itself is 16.3%, per Pro Football Focus

The Vikings could use the bye week to try and figure out ways to get Jennings involved. There’s no doubt the potential is there for him to be a key part of the offense. The signing of Beckham Jr. certainly makes things more difficult in that regard, as it could now limit the number of snaps Jennings gets. That said, this particular situation is somewhat out of his control in terms of the depth chart. He just needs to make the most of his snaps. It will be interesting to see what the Vikings can do to get him snaps, and perhaps more importantly, when he will be moved, if at all.
