Some community members here at BGN are wondering if the Eagles should be interested in bringing home the Philly and St. Joe’s Prep alumni:
I’m not surprised to see the Eagles aren’t interested in MHJ. Yes, he was a very good college football player at Ohio State, which made him the No. 1 pick. 4 overall picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.
But the 24-year-old has struggled to live up to expectations as a professional, which is why the Cards traded him. Perhaps a change of scenery would do him good. Maybe not.
In any case, the cost to acquire MHJ was reportedly along the lines of “a second-round pick and a sweetener.” That’s not a cheap price, even if the Eagles have extra draft pick ammo after the Cam Jurgens trade.
The Eagles are apparently hoping to get WR1 DeVonta Smith back from a hamstring injury next week. Dontayvion Wicks has been the Eagles’ top receiver in Smith’s absence and has looked good through the first two weeks. 2026 first-round pick Makai Lemon will continue to get playing time. Darius Cooper is said to be appearing.
The point is: the Eagles aren’t in a desperate spot to be the top bidder for MHJ, which might not be as good as people think.
As it currently stands, the Houston Texans are the rumored landing spot for Harrison Jr. If he ends up there, he’ll be reunited with his former college quarterback: CJ Stroud.
