Jaguars vs. Ravens: Rookie QB Joe Fagnano Betting Splits Are Starting to Differ

🏈 Meet the Ravens’ New Starting Quarterback

Joe Fagnano, wake up.

Ravens coach Jesse Minter confirmed Tuesday that the undrafted rookie will make his NFL debut starting Thursday night against the Jaguars.

Fagnano should not be in this position. But Lamar Jackson injured his thumb on the first offensive snap Sunday against Buffalo, Tyler Huntley was also injured, and the rookie suddenly ran Baltimore’s offense.

His NFL debut: 10 completions on 21 attempts, 91 yards and an interception. Now he gets a short week to prepare for Jacksonville.

Jacksonville is a 10-point favorite at Circa Sports. Here’s an interesting early betting trend: Circa and DraftKings see different action in Thursday’s game, though both have the Jaguars favored by 10.

On DraftKings: 82% of the tickets and 74% of the money are in Jacksonville.

About: Only 41% of the tickets and 38% of the money were in Jacksonville.

A warning: It’s still early. However, it is an intriguing contrast between sportsbooks with different customer bases.

So is Jacksonville the clear play against a rookie quarterback, or has the market overreacted? Zach Cohen breaks down the matchup, including three ways to approach Thursday’s game.

🏈 MACtion: Favoring the Wrong Team?

Eastern Michigan is a 1.5-point favorite at Central Michigan on Wednesday. But Steve Makinen’s Effective Play-by-Play Rating does Central Michigan is a 9.2-point favorite.

That is a 10.7-point gap between ratings and market.

Adam Burke also sees reasons to question the line. Central Michigan is 1-3 in MAC play, compared to Eastern Michigan’s 3-2, but the Chippewas have played a tougher schedule and own the better conference yards-per-play numbers on both sides of the ball.

Do the standings obscure the better team? Adam breaks down this matchup and the rest of Wednesday’s MACtion card.
