A year ago, a struggling Jets team dealt a pair of high profile players, Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams, at the trade deadline for a pile of NFL Draft picks.
With the 2026 Jets struggling, and star wide receiver Garrett Wilson looking frustrated on the sideline in Sunday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins, speculation has begun as to whether the Jets could look to make a big trade this year involving the three-time 1,000-yard receiver.
Wilson confirmed Wednesday that he is not seeking a trade.
That’s good news for the Jets and their fans. The team notably told inquiring teams last year that Wilson was unrestricted. Unlike Gardner and Williams, Garrett Wilson will play a large direct role in the development of whichever quarterback the team selects in next year’s NFL Draft.
With that said, I think the Jets should understand that Wilson’s patience is likely endless. His comments caused disappointment and at least some degree of frustration on his target’s part.
For a number of reasons, the Jets need to start winning games sooner rather than later. One thing that’s easier to achieve is making sure Wilson remains a focal point of the offense throughout the game.
