The Philadelphia Eagles picked up another unfortunate injury to their backfield after a Week 5 loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, running back Will Shipley is expected to miss time moving forward after getting his official diagnosis Monday morning.

“Eagles RB Will Shipley suffered a partial tear of his plantar fascia during Sunday’s loss to the Jaguars that could sideline him for several weeks, per source,” Schefter reported to the X on Wednesday.
Shipley is now the third Eagles running back with an injury in the past two weeks.
Eagles Backfield hurts

In a Week 4 loss against the Los Angeles Rams, the Eagles lost Saquon Barkley in the opening quarter.
As Barkley played through the stinger, he added a hamstring injury to his list of concerns. At this point, Barkley is considered week-to-week. He missed Sunday’s game against the Jaguars.

Tank Bigsby played in most of the Rams’ games, but went down with a core injury, forcing him off the field. Bigsby underwent surgery, and was placed on injured reserve, forcing him out of at least four weeks of action for the Eagles.
Shipley was tabbed RB1 for the Eagles on Sunday in London. He caught five carries for six yards and a touchdown. After Shipley left the game to be evaluated, he was ruled out for the rest of the matchup. Now, he is on pace to lose more time.
Shipley’s Season Now

After a quiet training camp, Shipley enters the 2026 NFL season as the No. 3 running backs on the depth chart. The placement behind Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby is far from a surprise.
Leading into Sunday afternoon’s loss against the Jaguars, Shipley totaled 15 carries in four games. He made 51 yards on the ground.
In the receiving game, Shipley was targeted six times and caught four passes for 24 yards. He also continued to contribute on special teams with six kick returns for an average of 33.5 yards per game.
