DJ Turner is having a great season, even if you don’t notice it

One sign of a good cornerback is if you don’t notice him. It may sound strange, but if you don’t notice him, that means the opposing quarterback isn’t throwing in his direction.

Bengals cornerback DJ Turner has been overlooked for most of the Bengals’ first five games this season. The only time he had it was when he made a holding call against DK Metcalf late in the Steelers game in Week 3.

Turner hasn’t let the potential distractions of a contract extension affect him, and that goes into this offseason.

The proof is in his play so far this season.

For those in the analytics crowd, this is for you. Admittedly, I’m not an analytics person. But it describes the season Turner is having through five games. He’s only allowing about half a yard per coverage snap, which is impressive.

Turner has five passes defensed this season and 12 tackles. Impressively, nine of those were solo tackles.
