Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes admitted to being a disappointed father at home before the Chargers game.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes couldn’t be happier with the team’s 4-0 start.

While Mahomes knows there is still room for improvement moving forward, especially after losing wide receivers Tyquan Thornton and Rashee Rice to injuries before the bye, he remains confident.

“Just get ready; they put in the work,” he told Cyrus Allen and Jalen Royals reporters before facing the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6.

“They have to put in the work in practice, and they’re doing that. Now when their number is called, they’re going to go into a role and do their job. I’m excited for them. We’re going to put them in a position to succeed. I have a lot of confidence in those guys, a lot of confidence in them.”

While the three-time Super Bowl MVP is focused on creating chemistry with his new starters, he admits he drops the ball at home.

Mahomes will be the first to say that being a father is his most important role. Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, have three children – Sterling, 5, Bronze, 3, and Golden, 21 months.

Halloween is just over two weeks away, and Mahomes admits it’s completely out of his mind. Between making sure his knee was fine after tearing his ACL in December and checking in on how the other teams were doing during the bye — he forgot.

“I was surprised. I forgot about Halloween,” Mahomes said. “Brittany is like what’s going to be for Halloween and I’m like, I haven’t thought about that. I’m so wrapped up in this week and the season and stuff.”

Luckily Brittany took care of it. When asked what the family’s plans are, “I can’t say right now,” Mahomes said. “There are options because you never know with kids, so we have a lot of options. I don’t know yet. I just know how many of the options there are.”

Speaking with Mitch Holthus on “The Chiefs Kingdom Show” in Arrowhead earlier this month, Mahomes reflected on how Brittany did triple duty at home while recovering from surgery.

“I think that’s something that’s a huge thing for me because, she’s become a mother of three, I mean, she has to play that role more because I’m not at home. I spend seven hours a day there in the offseason when we’re supposed to be on vacation or back home in Texas,” he said.

“It was a total commitment from the whole family, and I think he did a great job of kind of being the head of the household when I had to be in the rehab facility.”

Brittany shared a clip of Mahomes’ comments on her Instagram Stories and replied, “Would do anything for my babies and my husband 🥹🫶🏻.”
