The bye week is over for the Minnesota Vikings, and they will return to the field in Week 7 of the 2026 NFL season as they host the Indianapolis Colts at US Bank Stadium.
The Vikings are still one of three undefeated teams in the National Football League to open Week 7, along with the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers (Monday Night Football results pending). The Vikings are getting the job done mainly on defense and special teams, as Brian Flores’ group currently allows the fewest points/game in the National Football League and Matt Daniels’ special teams unit is the best in the league so far this season. The offense has certainly had issues, especially in the passing game, but has done enough to keep the team from losing so far.
The Vikings will see the return of several key pieces in this one, including left tackle Christian Darrisaw, wide receiver Jordan Addison, tight end TJ Hockenson, and running back Jordan Mason. Mason has been on injured reserve since suffering a thumb injury in the season opener but is eligible to return starting this week. Addison and Darrisaw both missed the Week 5 game against New Orleans with injuries, and Hockenson left the Saints’ game after the second offensive play with a concussion. We will monitor all their statuses throughout the week.
The Colts came into this one a bit of a stumble, having lost two straight, including a 26-20 loss at home in Week 6 to the previously winless Tennessee Titans. The Colts turned the ball over three times in the loss, including a pair of interceptions by Daniel Jones, and had a punt blocked and returned for a touchdown. Indianapolis’ defense allowed the Titans to put up just 186 total yards of offense and led the game at halftime by a score of 13-0, but ended up stumbling badly in the second half against their AFC South rivals.
This is the Colts’ third trip in five years to US Bank Stadium, and their last two trips have not gone well for them. In 2024, the Colts came to town for Sunday Night Football and led 7-0 at halftime after turning a Sam Darnold sack/fumble into a touchdown. The Vikings took over in the second half, however, scoring two third-quarter touchdowns to take a 14-7 lead, and Darnold iced it with his third touchdown pass of the night before the two-minute warning to secure a 21-13 victory for Minnesota.
And, of course, there was the 2022 Saturday afternoon game at US Bank Stadium, when the Colts stunned the Vikings by taking a 33-0 lead into halftime. . .only to see the Vikings pull off an even bigger shocker by going on a 36-3 run in the second half to force overtime and eventually win the game on Greg Joseph’s 40-yard field goal at the overtime gun to win 39-36 and secure the biggest comeback in NFL history.
Kickoff for this one is set for noon Central Time this Sunday afternoon, and the broadcast will be provided by the CBS family of networks, including WCCO-4 in the Twin Cities. We’ll be putting all our stories about the game this week in this stream for you, so keep your eyes here for the latest.
