Buccaneers Upset Cowboys: Circa Survivor Fallout and NFL Week 5 Best Bets

🏈 How Many Survivor Entries Did Cowboys Just Kill?

Yesterday, we asked who in the world is betting on the 0-4 Buccaneers.

Turns out, they had the right idea.

Tampa Bay didn’t just cover the spread Thursday night. The Bucs upset the Cowboys 24-16 to open NFL Week 5. The game went Under 49.

VSiN.com senior editor Zach Cohen pointed out the possible sharp money in Tampa Bay in Circa, where 92% of the spread handle was on the Bucs when we checked Wednesday night. Circa’s line is closed at Tampa Bay +9.5.

And Zach wasn’t the only one who saw trouble.

Chris “Wilbo” Wilberding warned about Dallas on Thursday Follow the Money with Mitch Moss and guest Derek Stevens.

Wilbo is Circa’s director of operations, which makes his perspective particularly interesting given the betting action we featured yesterday.

FYI: Wilbo joined Cincinnati in VSiN’s internal Survivor contest.

But how many Circa Survivor contestants make it to Dallas?

there are 5,972 entries still alive entering Week 5, just a plus 24 remain in the $100,000-entry About Great.

PoolGenius estimated that 35% of Survivor entries choose Dallas. If that projection holds up, we’re practically talking 2,100 entries that may be removed even before the games start on Sunday.

We won’t know the actual damage until Saturday at 9 pm ETwhen Derek and Jeff Benson revealed the picks at The Football Contest Show.

“This game will go down in Circa Survivor lore,” wrote Tony Farmer, a regular contributor to the show along with Matt Brown.

And if you’re still alive in your Survivor pool, Adam Burke has a Week 5 recommendation that doesn’t include Dallas.

Some thanks: Congratulations to Zach and everyone who supported Tampa Bay. And good VSiN Community member Ryan Barrettwho correctly called any time George Pickens’ touchdown on +120.

As for our resident Cowboys loyalist Dave Ross? i guess VSiN Of Books will have a listening appointment this morning (7–10 a.m. ET).

⚾ The Rays May Be the Biggest Game 5 Winner

The Guardians scored just two runs in their first two ALDS home games. Then they went to Chicago and scored 18 runs in two games to force a winner-take-all Game 5 on Saturday.

But the biggest beneficiary may be Tampa Bay.

Adam Burke sees a grave problem for any survivor.

Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt needed Gavin Williams in relief to finish Game 4, potentially complicating his availability for Game 5. Chicago’s bullpen is also thin, with Hagen Smith and Grant Taylor looking tired.

And the winner gets a Rays team that makes a lot of contact and has a strong pitching staff.

Adam’s betting angle: He wants the Rays to -175 to win the ALCS on DraftKingsstarting last Thursday night. He expects the price to increase once the Guardians–White Sox series is decided.

Meanwhile, the National League matchups are set: Dodgers vs. Brewersstarting Sunday.
