Baker Mayfield injury: The Buccaneers QB left the game holding his right hand

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield injured what appeared to be his throwing hand at the end of their Week 3 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Facing fourth-and-13 down four points with less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter, Mayfield bought time in the backfield before throwing an interception to Andrew Van Ginkel while being hit. The Bucs quarterback was seen writhing on the ground in pain and screams were heard as he held his right hand. Soon after, Mayfield left the field with the trainers, and went straight to the locker room. Undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels replaced him under center on the Bucs’ next possession.

Mayfield completed 17 of 34 passes for 217 yards, a touchdown and an interception before exiting the game. It’s been a rough start to the season for the Buccaneers, as they’ve started with losses to the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns and possibly the Vikings to potentially move to 0-3.
