The Chargers come into the 2026 season with a young wide receiver group that seems poised to breakout thanks to the hiring of Mike McDaniel and the type of offense they’re expected to run. Through week three, that offense is nowhere to be seen and the receiver room is far from preseason expectations.
Enter Indiana’s Charlie Becker, who the Chargers were paired with in a recent 2027 mock draft from Sports Illustrated. The 6’4, 210-pound Becker is lighting up the college football world so far this season with six touchdowns and 370 yards on 19 receptions through four games.
“I’m not here to start another Justin Herbert debate. He, obviously, has to play better, and he can do that by getting better weapons. (See what I did there?) Becker became the breakout star of the young college football season. At first, I was hesitant to go all in on Becker despite all the positive intel I received on him before the season. I need to see it again after his sensational playoff performances that came out of nowhere last season. After three games, I’m sold on the 6’4″, 209-pound Becker, who can do it all with his high-level route running and reliable hands. He already has a whopping six touchdown receptions.”
