Antonio Williams Leads Commanders in Targets as McLaurin’s Damage Turns Up

Antonio Williams led the Commanders in targets for the first time this season, catching five of 7 targets for 54 yards on his way to 10.4 PPR points and a WR3 ranking in Week 8 pending Monday Night Football. It was the second-highest performance by a rookie WR in his first seven games.

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Volume Trend Points Up

Williams and QB Jayden Daniels connected on a 30-yard punt in the fourth quarter for his longest reception of the night, putting the Commanders in position to take a two-possession lead and never look back.

It was the first game the Commanders started without Terry McLaurin since his season ended with a torn patellar tendon against the 49ers in Week 6. That makes Williams’ career-high 25.9% target share against the Eagles when leading even more encouraging.

He accounted for a target on 18.2% of his routes, and with his route share topping 75% for the first time and reaching a career-high 88.6% in Week 8, his target volume increase is expected to continue.

Unfortunately, the competition will be even more intense when the Commanders take on a Rams defense in Week 9 that is allowing the fifth-fewest points to WRs.
