Two Dolphins are beginning concussion protocol before the matchup with the Patriots

The Miami Dolphins got their first win of the season by defeating the New York Jets on Sunday by a score of 28-25. Unfortunately, despite winning, they did not escape the clash unscathed.

On Wednesday, while speaking with the South Florida media, Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley announced that starting left guard, Kadyn Proctor, and starting cornerback, JuJu Brents, both experienced concussion symptoms earlier this week and have not practiced for Miami at this time.

Proctor played all 65 offensive snaps against the Jets, and even held a media session Monday — something players in the concussion protocol aren’t allowed to do. Brents missed six defensive snaps Sunday while dealing with a stinger. Hafley did not specify when either player first experienced symptoms, so it is too early to say whether one or both will be cleared in time to return for Sunday’s showdown with their AFC East division rivals, the New England Patriots.

Although Proctor didn’t appear at practice Wednesday, Brents was apparently seen doing conditioning drills on the sideline — which could be an indication that he’s more involved in the process than Proctor currently is.

We will continue to monitor injury reports throughout the week to determine if either Dolphins player will be available this weekend.
