The Detroit Lions still have a lot of love for former defensive coordinator and current Jets head coach Aaron Glenn. So when Jahmyr Gibbs ran into the end zone for his second touchdown of the day—an electric 17-yard run—he wanted to honor the former Lions coach.
After reversing the field and finding paydirt, Gibbs mimicked Glenn’s iconic sideline celebration from the 2025 season. If you don’t remember the reference, here’s Glenn after the Jets returned the field goal block for a touchdown late in the game.
And now, here’s Gibbs’ celebration from Sunday, lined up with Glenn’s sideline routine.
“When I saw it last year, it took me a little bit (to learn it),” Gibbs said. “I don’t know why it took me so long.”
Gibbs is off to a fantastic start to his 2026 season. Through three games, Gibbs has 307 yards rushing (4.7 YPC), four rushing touchdowns, and another 158 yards receiving, along with two more touchdowns through the air.
Through it all, Gibbs kept his upbeat attitude and kept the game fun, like this celebration—and he even clicked his heels when rushing into the end zone against the Jets for Detroit’s winning score.
“I’m always happy,” Gibbs said. “Every time I’m out there I treat it just as a game. I don’t take it too serious. I know we have jobs to do, but I’ve been playing for a long time and it’s pretty natural for me. So I just keep it fun.”
