In devastating news for the Miami Dolphins, star running back De’Von Achane suffered an ACL tear against the Kansas City Chiefs. He’s obviously out for the season, as one of the few reasons to watch the Dolphins on purpose doesn’t return until 2027.
And so the search for running back depth began, and the Dolphins brought in several former Seahawks running backs for tryouts. Kenny McIntosh and Damien Martinez, seventh-round picks in 2023 and 2025 respectively, were among the four running backs Miami committed. Don’t believe me for some reason? Martinez, who finished his college career at the University of Miami, had some intrigue as a Day 3 running back. He was underwhelmed throughout camp and the preseason and found himself on the outside looking in for roster cuts. Seattle briefly kept Martinez on the practice squad before releasing him in September. Martinez remained a free agent until the Green Bay Packers added him to their practice squad in December. He competed for a roster spot this preseason, only to be released again but this time not immediately signed to a practice squad.
