With the number of posts trading for people, inc O linemen, it got me thinking about who we have now and the fact that we have a “good” O line.
In truth, I don’t think we are – we have a decent O Line but it’s not pretty, it’s not mind blowing, and it’s nowhere near elite!
Bolles and Meinerz are great, no two ways about it, they are both some of the best at their respective positions in the NFL right now, hell Meinerz has an argument for being the best Right Guard in football.
McGlinchy is good most of the time but he can still be made to look very ordinary more often than I would like, Powers is an okay guard, but nothing special and Wattenberg is a decent pass blocking center I think, but I feel he’s costing us in the run game.
I haven’t seen anywhere near the young guns to know if they are the solution, but I know we have to do something for next year, if we just bring this line back, it won’t be cut next year.
I wish we could get Nelson but that ship has sailed, and I’m not pushing for Landon Dickerson, because someone said he doesn’t care anymore and I don’t want another O lineman who just wants to get paid and then sit on IR for two years, (I won’t mention that guy’s name even in my mind).
The ideal scenario for me is that the young guns come in next year and make a difference, but we also spend a high round draft pick on a decent O lineman, (it would be brilliant if we used our own 32nd pick in the draft but that’s another dream).
