The arrow points up for Sack Nation, the passing of the Chiefs

The star defensive lineman and CEO of Sack Nation, a defensive subsidiary of their parent company, the Kansas City Chiefs, who specializes in security infiltration, spoke to members of the media Thursday afternoon.

Jones admitted that early returns were not what the company expected for this financial year; so far this season, the Chiefs have accumulated only four sacks. Jones acknowledged that Sack Nation faces a unique set of circumstances while trying to achieve its ultimate goal: tackling the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage while still holding the ball.

“We’re close, statistically,” Jones told reporters. “Look at the numbers, the quarterback is getting rid of the ball [in] 2.3 seconds. I don’t care how good of a pass rusher you are, when they throw the ball that fast, it’s tough for anybody,” Jones explained.

Worse, he added that when the opposition holds the ball to take a shot downfield, they keep extra men to reinforce their line and prevent any attack.

“You’ve got seven, eight guys out there protecting,” Jones said. “So, it seems, the opportunity will come. I think don’t wave from what we’ve been doing. We’ve done a lot of good. We put a lot of good on film. I think we stay committed to that and just find ways to get sacks out of it so y’all can stop writing about us in the media.”

The job doesn’t get any easier this week, when Jones and his team face the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders have allowed just five sacks through three games this season and are tied for the NFL lead in passing touchdowns with nine.

Part of the Raiders’ success has also been their quarterback Kirk Cousins, who has gotten the ball in his hands quickly this season. Through Week 3, Cousins has the NFL’s seventh-fastest time to throw in 2026 at 2.58 seconds. The Chiefs will need to get home and pressure Cousins to disrupt his rhythm in the passing game.

Not just because it will help Sack Nation improve its bottom line, but because the alternative is another week of media stories about Sack Nation’s poor performance.

“It just gives you a week to write about the Chiefs defensive linemen and why you paid me and George (Karlaftis).”
