ugly Those are the best and most PG words I can think of to describe what we witnessed Sunday in Jacksonville. That is if “we” even watched that game. You’re probably listening to the first quarter out of curiosity, but if you stay from start to finish, you’re stronger than me. That was rough. A broken franchise must now pick up the pieces and figure out what to do.
The Indianapolis Colts weren’t just bad on Sunday; they are terrible. It really fits the vibe of Halloween weekend because it’s really spooky. The score was 28-0 at halftime as a fumble and an interception returned for a touchdown took the lead. Tyler Warren had four receptions on ten targets for 18 yards. Ouch. One of them bounced off him and into the arms of a Jags defender who took it home. That was the last moment, if ever there was one, that one might think this team had fight left.
Daniel Jones almost throws the ball down. His 144 yards won’t cut it. Actually, no, because Anthony Richardson entered the game late. Is it because of the blowout, or something else? Rumors are starting to swirl that the Colts could be making a change. Changing the quarterback won’t fix this defense, though. Tackling and coverage are atrocious. This is Chris Ballard’s roster, ladies and gentlemen.
The roster is being picked up like a corpse on the side of the road. The effort seems lost, and the other teams are set to feast. As bad as it is, it might get worse. The Colts are back without a viable quarterback, an area that has had this team’s Chris Ballard for years. They also don’t have a first-round pick. I’m not sure if the Colts have hit rock bottom, but it sure is dark. I don’t want to see where they go from here.
