Thursday’s injury report heading into Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers is out. There are some major updates to this report. Let’s start with the good news. Starting safety Ty Okada has finally returned to practice in a limited fashion. This is the first time Okada has practiced all season. It will be fascinating to see if he can practice again tomorrow and possibly improve on Sunday. The other starting safety, Julian Love, was limited in practice again Thursday with a calf injury. However, when asked if he plans to play Sunday against the Chargers, Love replied, “Yeah, I feel good.” Often the presence of media is a sign that a player will play.
The other good news from Thursday’s practice is that running back Zach Charbonnet has officially returned to practice on a limited basis. Because Charbonnet is on the PUP list, he has to sit out four total games, meaning he won’t be able to play Sunday against the Chargers. However, Charbonnet’s return also means he must be activated on the PUP list for 21 days, or his season is over. That timeline shows Charbonnet could return as early as Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers, while the latest he could return is before Week 7 against Kenneth Walker III and the Kansas City Chiefs.
It’s not all good news for the Seahawks. Running back Jadarian Price went from a limited participant in yesterday’s practice, to a “did not participate” in today’s practice due to a chest injury. If Price can’t go Sunday, that likely means a heavy dose of George Holani and Emanuel Wilson at running back (and maybe even a Velus Jones Jr. or Jacardia Wright from the practice squad). Although it should be noted that for the second straight day, Holani was limited in practice with a rib injury.
Defensive tackle Brandon Pili (neck), safety Nick Emmanwori (ankle), and wide receiver Rashid Shaheed (hip) were all full participants for the second straight day. Meanwhile, guard Gray Zabel (groin), and defensive tackles Jarran Reed (foot) and Leonard Williams (veteran rest day) went from limited participants yesterday to full participants today.
