Seahawks-49ers injury assignments: Leonard Williams is set to play in Week 5

Ahead of the Seattle Seahawks’ most important game of the young 2026 season, the team received good news regarding defensive lineman Leonard Williams.

The veteran anchor of the Seahawks’ front, who is battling an ankle injury he suffered last week, does not have a game designation for Week 5, meaning Williams could face the rival San Francisco 49ers. The lack of a designation is somewhat surprising considering Williams was limited in practice on Wednesday and was held out entirely on Thursday.

But that could be a precaution to get Williams extra rest, as the Seahawks have a short week after playing the 49ers. Williams and returning safety Ty Okada, who also did not have an injury designation, will be a big help for a Seahawks defense that hopes to slow down the undefeated 49ers offense.

Seattle also got positive news on special teamer Irv Charles, who had his assignment changed from outside and was questionable on Friday. He must be placed on the 53-man roster to play.

In more negative news, Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet will be out, and fellow running back George Holani is questionable with rib and ankle injuries. Seattle will need to lean on Emmanuel Wilson and newly acquired Robert Henry Jr. to tote the ball against San Francisco.

Cornerback Julian Neal and linebacker Chazz Surratt were also released. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said Neal, a key piece, was hurt in practice. Neal’s injury will leave the Seahawks short in the secondary and could mean an elevation of cornerback Trevon Diggs for the second straight week.

After a week of worry, the Seahawks appear to have staved off the serious injury bug for another week. Seattle will have a showdown with their NFC West rivals at 1:25 pm on FOX.
