Raiders news: Ashton Jeanty calls Jets players ‘don’t want to argue’

Before the Raiders take on the Jets, Ashton Jeanty sees an opportunity to get out of trouble against players who ‘really don’t want to face off.’

As the Las Vegas Raiders prepare to face the New York Jets on Sunday, the team is looking for their offense to receive help in the running game led by star running back Ashton Jeanty. As the Raiders look to snap a four-game losing streak, Jeanty is confident against the Jets, even calling up some of the opposition’s defensive players.

It’s been a frustrating season so far for Jeanty, who averaged 3.1 yards per carry and had 328 yards with one touchdown, though he thinks Sunday is when Las Vegas “will definitely get the run game going.” Plus, Jeanty will say that there are “a couple of guys who really don’t want to argue” in New York, though she won’t say who.

“I think we can definitely get the run game going, get back on track, and just really get after these guys. There’s some guys out there that don’t really want to fight, but I won’t say names,” Jeanty said, via NBC Sports.

“I think the main thing is we just stick together. You lose games, everybody starts questioning things,” Jeanty continued. “Above all, not pointing fingers. Everyone has to work together. It’s a team sport.”

The Jets responded with the Raiders’ Ashton Jeanty

The Raiders are 31st in the league in rushing yards per game with 74.7, which will need to improve against a Jets defense that gave up 103 yards to Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon. For head coach Klint Kubiak, running inefficiency is a team issue.

“It’s a team thing,” Kubiak said, via the team’s website. “We can all do things better – running back, fullback, offensive line. It’s a team thing. We really focus on different things with each player, but we can all improve.”

Jeanty’s comments didn’t go unnoticed as New York defensive coordinator Brian Duker responded with few words, expressing confidence in his unit.

“I have a lot of confidence in our guys,” Duke said, via the SNY Jets.

It remains to be seen how Jeanty and Las Vegas perform on Sunday against the Jets.
