The Chargers remain winless following a 24-16 loss to the Buffalo Bills on the road in Week Three.
If you haven’t fallen for the tank after their first two losses, then perhaps Sunday’s debacle has you ready and willing to accept the unfortunate reality.
After falling to 0-3, the Chargers left Sunday currently holding the fourth pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. The Texans, Buccaneers, and Titans are the three teams ahead of them, in descending order.
There are some true blue chip players at the top of this year’s draft class and the shining jewel at the top is none other than Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. However, it’s looking more and more like a team will have to use the first overall pick to acquire his services, preventing QB-needy teams from finding their way back into the top five.
The Chargers could also land one of the top rushers in the class in South Carolina’s Dylan Stewart (although he’s just been suspended indefinitely) or Texas’ Colin Simmons. Indiana receiver Charlie Becker looks more like a top-10 pick and then there’s still Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore who would surely be a top-five pick if it weren’t for the many quarterbacks fighting for a position near the top.
If the Chargers land anywhere at No. 3-No. 7 draft range next year, there will be a very good player at a position of need available.
