Brandon Aiyuk is trying to return to the NFL as the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver files his paperwork to be reinstated.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Aiyuk is set to return to practice on Friday, with his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, saying the WR is “healthy and ready to get back on the field.”
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked about that on Wednesday, and he had a telling response.
“I didn’t expect anything. I’ve kind of moved on from that mentally,” Shanahan said.

The drama with Aiyuk has been going on for a long time. And in January, he called out his team in a video on social media. An arrest warrant was also issued for Aiyuk last summer, and he also lit up the Washington Commanders rumors with a series of videos on social media.
George Kittle there were also some pointed comments about Aiyuk, so it’s been an interesting year regarding the first-round wide receiver.
However, despite all that, Aiyuk is trying to get back on the field. Once he’s reinstated, the 49ers can keep him, release him or trade him before the Nov. 10 deadline, but Shanahan’s comments certainly make it look like the team is done with him.
