Jim Harbaugh didn’t look like himself after Sunday’s potentially fatal loss to the Denver Broncos.
The Los Angeles Chargers looked poised to finally get their first win, leading 17-10 entering the fourth quarter of a Week 5 clash at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. Instead, the Chargers embarrassed themselves in the final period.
The home team ended the game with a punt, a turnover on down, an interception, and a fumble, losing 23-17 and falling to 0-5.
After the game, Harbaugh was asked what kind of message he would give the team amid a winless start. The Chargers coach stumbled on a disheartening answer.
“Uhh, I don’t know what that message is,” Harbaugh said, before trying to come up with something.
“It’s up to… Players … fight for their hearts. Play, uhh, give it all they’ve got. That’s the only way; that’s the best way. Yes, that’s … yes.”

Harbaugh is known for giving the most inspirational messages during his press conferences, to the point where he often sounds like a football-loving robot. That robot is clearly not working after Sunday’s result.
Harbaugh stood by offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel last week amid calls for the latter’s firing. After the debacle of a fourth quarter that Chargers fans witnessed, Harbaugh may want to soften his stance on the matter.
