Jim Harbaugh set Mike McDaniel’s job security record

All the way to the Los Angeles Chargers Head coach Jim Harbaugh worries, offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel’s seat isn’t too hot for the latter to worry about.

The Chargers are still winless after four games, as they lost to the reigning Super Bowl champions Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, 30-23, at Lumen Field in Seattle, Wash. Despite the losses piling up and a woeful offense, Harbaugh didn’t see the Chargers parting ways with McDaniel.

“His job is not in jeopardy,” Harbaugh said, via ESPN’s Kris Rhim. “He’s a great coach, and we’ll continue to grow.”

Still, there’s no denying that Los Angeles’ offense isn’t right.

Against Seattle, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was picked off twice and sacked four times for a loss of 35 yards, while Los Angeles committed a total of four turnovers. Herbert and company managed just six points in the first half. They looked better in the second half, but the inconsistency of the offensive unit must be maddening for the Chargers and their fans.

McDaniel was hired by the Chargers in January to be their offensive coordinator after spending the previous four seasons as the head coach of the Miami Dolphinswho fired him just a few weeks ago.

The 0-4 Chargers will now return home to prepare for a Week 5 matchup against AFC West rivals the Denver Broncos at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.
