Jerry Jones: We can do something at the trade deadline to help the team this year

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones talked a lot about the team being in the market for a trade addition before they made a deal for cornerback Joey Porter Jr. at the end of September and he may not be finished on that front.

The Cowboys are 2-4 and coming off a pair of disappointing performances in losses to the Buccaneers and Packers, but Jones said he believes the team is capable of more than it has shown so far this season. As a result, Jones said at league meetings Wednesday that he could envision the team making another deal to bolster its 2026 roster.

“I’ll be really clear, I see being active at the trade deadline if it is something that might help team this year,” Jones said, via Albert Breer of SI.com.

Jones added that he doesn’t see a way the Cowboys will be sellers while playing in a division that doesn’t have a runaway favorite right now.

The Cowboys have three games before the Nov. 10 deadline and how they play against the Eagles, Cardinals and Colts could determine how motivated they are to give up future assets to help their bid for a playoff spot this year.
