Rams Facing Trade Decision After Davante Adams News

Despite entering the 2026 NFL season with expectations as high as any team in the league, the Los Angeles Rams have stumbled to start their season. Entering Week 7’s matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders, the Rams were 2-4 and had lost back-to-back games.

While the Rams have shown flashes of brilliance at times, including a 28-6 Week 2 victory over the New York Giants, these moments have been overshadowed by offensive inconsistency and frustration. Last season, the Rams’ offense ranked first in the NFL in points per game, but it has dropped to 20th this season.

One bright spot on a disappointing offensive unit is veteran wide receiver Davante Adams. In six games this season, Adams has hauled in 30 receptions for 480 yards and four touchdowns, entering Week 7 with the eighth most receiving yards in the league.

Unfortunately, one of the Rams’ biggest losses came in their Week 6 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Davante Adams suffered a non-contact injury in the fourth quarter that was later determined to be a ruptured hamstring. Adams was slated to miss six to ten weeks, and the team placed him on injured reserve.

Adams’ injury leaves the Rams with an interesting decision as the trade deadline approaches. According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, the Rams will “at least explore the possibility of trading for a wide receiver.”

The Rams still have a star in Puka Nacua to highlight their receiver room, but Adams had a big role in the offense before his injury. Outside of Nacua, the Rams’ receiving corps consists of Tutu Atwell, Jordan Whittington, and Konata Mumpfield, none of whom have recorded more than 45 receptions in a season.

With Adams recording 30 catches in just six games, Los Angeles will have to decide if anyone in its current group can come close to replacing that level of production.

If not, the Rams could look outside the organization for a more proven option. That won’t require a blockbuster acquisition. Getting a receiver capable of handling a reliable secondary role could be enough to help stabilize the offense.
