New England won the coin toss and called timeout, so Jacksonville started with the ball — but they immediately fell behind. Jahlani Tavai was called for an illegal block above the waist on a kick return, and Nate Boerkircher was flagged for a chop block on 1st down. Josh Cameron dropped a tough catch on 2nd down and Trevor Lawrence had nothing to scramble on 3rd down.
After the Jaguars punted on their first possession, both offenses took turns picking up 1st down before sending the punt unit.
On the Patriots’ second drive, Drake Maye scrambled 9 yards and found Mack Hollins on the sideline for 13 more, but he eventually let the ball slip — and DaVon Hamilton was there for the fumble recovery!
Jacksonville took advantage of the turnover and marched down the field with 1st downs by Parker Washington, Chris Rodriguez Jr., and Bhayshul Tuten. On 2nd-and-10 inside the redzone, Lawrence finds Cameron over the middle for the touchdown!
Jacksonville forced a three-and-out thanks to a 3rd down sack by Ruke Orhorhoro, but then a pass to Brenton Strange went off his hands and into the stomach of Patriots DB Marcus Jones. Fortunately, the Jags limited the Pats to a 35-yard field goal.
Liam Coen has committed to running on their next possession. Only Tuten had 4 rushes for 24 yards, and Lawrence later found Jakobi Meyers in the middle of the endzone for six more points!
New England responded with a long 10-play drive that reached the Jacksonville 2-yard line, but then Maye threw a bad pass into the hands of TRAVIS HUNTER for his first career interception! Come on!!!
Jacksonville’s offense had enough time left in the half to get into position for a 70-yard field goal attempt… by Cam Little barely missed wide right. Alas.
The Patriots put together another 10-play drive, fueled by three 1st downs from Rhamondre Stevenson. Fortunately, the drive was stopped near the red zone when Montaric Brown made a nice PBU on 3rd down, then Andres Borregales missed a 38-yard field goal wide right! Jacksonville still has a double-digit-point lead.
Lawrence marched the Jaguars offense back down the field, eventually finding Washington for an INSANE touchdown to extend the lead! Pay that man!!
After Washington had the best catch by a Jaguars receiver since Keelan Cole against the Patriots in 2018, Jarrian Jones kept the good vibes going by intercepting Maye and returning it 32 yards to the New England 5-yard line!
On the next play, Chris Rodriguez Jr. punched it. for another Jaguars touchdown! WE CAN’T BE STOPPED!
New England rushed down the field with big completions to Mack Hollins, Romeo Doubs, and Kyle Williams, but the drive was stalled near the redzone by a teasing penalty on Hollins. Borregales connected on a 40-yard field goal attempt.
On Jacksonville’s next drive, Tuten threw the ball 6 times for 21 yards and a touchdown to officially put the nail in the coffin.
