Giants news: Special teamer chosen over Odell Beckham Jr. for the season

New York Giants coach John Harbaugh needs to be more creative in finding ways to generate offense through their special teams.

Odell Beckham Jr. didn’t hold back. after the New York Giants cut him, posted a lengthy message on Instagram to express his displeasure. His second stint with the Giants did not improve, as he appeared in just 19 snaps in three games.

Following Beckham’s release, New York signed Braxton Berrios and Charlie Jones to the active roster to bolster special teams.

Unfortunately, Berrios announced on Tuesday that he is out for the season with a foot/ankle injury.

“Two of my last three seasons have ended this way, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t miserable right now. I feel like I belong here this year, and it’s finally all sorted out. Now, it feels like everything I’ve poured into the last nine months is gone in the blink of an eye,” the 31-year-old wide receiver wrote on Instagram.

Berrios signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Giants in June. He was relegated to the practice squad in August. He was activated in four games, although he logged just one reception.

He announced his season-ending surgery on his birthday. However, he remained hopeful that the terrible recession was just a setup for a bigger comeback.

“The timing I thought it came was like a punishment again, but the good news about God is that I know it will come. Maybe not when we want it, but always in time. Time to rebuild,” added Berrios.

The Giants are atop the NFC East with a 3-1 record. They will visit the Washington Commanders on Sunday.
