The Minnesota Vikings will be without top wide receiver Justin Jefferson for their Week 4 game against the Miami Dolphins, head coach Kevin O’Connell told the media on Friday. Jefferson is dealing with an ankle injury he suffered in the team’s Week 3 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Vikings will rely on wide receivers Jordan Addison and Jauan Jennings in Jefferson’s absences.
The four-time Pro Bowl receiver has 13 receptions for 179 yards and two touchdowns this season.
O’Connell indicated earlier in the week that he was optimistic Jefferson would be able to play, but the receiver will now have to sit out at least Sunday’s game. Jefferson’s absence is not a good situation for quarterback Kyler Murray and the Vikings’ offense, which statistically was the worst offense in the NFL through three weeks, averaging just 238.3 yards per game.
By comparison, the Dolphins ranked 27th in total offense this year, averaging 290.7 yards per game.
A full injury report will be released Friday afternoon.
