Chiefs named practice squad LB Cole Christiansen for Week 4

On Saturday, the Kansas City Chiefs announced that linebacker Cole Christiansen was elevated from the practice squad and made eligible for Sunday’s road game against the Las Vegas Raiders. He will return to the practice squad as soon as the game is over.

Following a Week 1 knee injury to linebacker Cooper McDonald, Christiansen is now up for the third straight game. He’s played more than half of Kansas City’s special teams snaps over the past two weeks. Counting the postseason, the Army product has made 23 appearances with the team since 2022 but has never caught a defensive snap.

Christiansen is no longer permitted elevations to the practice squad for the regular season. With McDonald required to miss at least one more game while on the Reserve/Injured list, fellow practice squad linebacker Cam Jones appears to be a good candidate to be called up in Week 6, unless a linebacker is added to the active roster in the upcoming bye week.

Kansas City declined to use the other allowed elevation for Week 2. Previously, the Chiefs released defensive tackle Marcus Harris for Weeks 1 and 2. Harris dressed for both games and was on the field for seven total defensive snaps. Defensive end Tyreke Smith was brought up for Week 3 but then declared inactive for the game.
