The Indianapolis Colts made a big change on Monday morning by firing general manager Chris Ballard.
Ballard has been with the organization since the 2017 season but was ultimately released after a 2-4 start this season. With Ballard fired, Indianapolis will now look for a new GM and a report from Dan Patrick provided some insight on a specific name in the search.
The Colts reached Peyton Manning
Patrick spoke on Monday morning and revealed that according to his sources, the first phone call Indianapolis made after Ballard’s firing was to former quarterback Peyton Manning.
Manning, who spent the first 13 seasons of his career with the Colts, is a beloved member of the franchise and is still valued in Indianapolis. According to Patrick’s sources, the call to Manning not only sought his advice but also gauged his interest in the GM opening as well as partial ownership.
“The call not only got names and suggestions but also explored whether or not Peyton was interested in being a general manager for the Colts as an entry point that would include ownership interest.”
