Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb says Cardinals ‘always have more energy’

CeeDee Lamb has never been part of a win against Arizona Cardinals since the Dallas Cowboys selected the wide receiver in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Lamb will try to help end that streak when the 3-4 Cowboys host the 2-5 Cardinals this coming Sunday afternoon. While speaking to reporters Thursday, Lamb tried to explain why Arizona has won four straight against Dallas.

CeeDee Lamb: The Cowboys should “beat” the Cardinals at AT&T Stadium

“Yeah, it’s just crazy,” Lamb said, according to the Cowboys’ Patrik Walker website. “[We were] being very, very relaxed, and they punched us in the mouth every time. They always have more energy. They are more excited, regardless of whether it is 12 o’clock, Sunday night or Monday night. We played them in prime time; they beat us there. So, we’ve got to treat them like a Super Bowl contending team, which they might be, you know what I’m saying? Hats off to them for their preparation, and we just have to match them. If that can’t be overcome.”

As Charean Williams shared for Pro Football Talk, the Cardinals have beaten the Cowboys in eight of the past nine meetings between the clubs. Dallas’ last win over Arizona occurred in September 2017.

That said, recent reports have suggested the Cardinals could begin trading veteran players before the Nov. 1 trade deadline. 10 if they fall to 2-6. Meanwhile, Dallas is coming off a 38-21 win over the rival Philadelphia Eagles in Oct. 26 which is probably the hope of Lamb and Co. represents the beginning of a positive run of form for the Cowboys.

Cowboys need to “focus on one game at a time”

The Cowboys trail only the 4-2-1 New York Giants in the NFC East standings heading into the weekend. It’s Big Blue’s bye, but Lamb doesn’t seem to mind how Dallas will match the Giants in Sunday’s win total.

“To be honest, the win one, lose one, it’s not really — you don’t get momentum as a team,” Lamb added. “You don’t get momentum. You don’t get any leeway to say anything about what’s going on after this without handling this right now. I feel like we just need to focus on one game at a time, no matter who it is, who we play, what time we play them, or where it is at. We need to go out there, handle business, and then we’ll see.”

On Friday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook made the Cowboys seven-point home favorites over the Cardinals.
