Chiefs’ Tyquan Thornton left the field in Las Vegas with an ankle injury

In what looked like a do-or-die moment for the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth quarter of Week 4 against the Las Vegas Raiders, quarterback Patrick Mahomes launched a deep pass to wide receiver Tyquan Thornton, who heroically stretched for it and kept running down the left sideline. It was his fifth catch of the day – two of them touchdowns – and he accumulated 111 yards.

When he got up to celebrate, Thornton noticed something was wrong with his lower left leg. The highlight play turned into a sad, unfortunate moment for the 26-year-old receiver who was having a career day. A short replay is available here.

After some time on the field, Thornton was carted off the field following a game-changing 55-yarder. The Chiefs offense followed Thornton’s effort with two touchdowns by running back Kenneth Walker, who took a 30-19 lead.

With less than two minutes left, the team announced that Thornton was out with an ankle injury.

We’ll update this article with more information about the severity of Thornton’s injury when it becomes available after the game.
