Dallas Cowboys second-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer may be in the bad books of owner Jerry Jones.
In an interview Tuesday with KRLD-FM in Dallas, Jones said there was “no explanation” for some of the coach’s clock management late in the fourth quarter of a 34-31 Week 3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Rio de Janeiro. That ranged from questionable play-calling to telling quarterback Dak Prescott to throw the ball away on a potential go-ahead touchdown to kicking it deep, setting up Tyler Loop’s game-winning field goal.
In what may be an attempt to get back into Jones’ good graces, Schottenheimer apologized for his mistakes during his news conference Tuesday.

“I didn’t do very well in the last 28 seconds,” the coach said (h/t Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team). “I felt like I overcoached Dak on third down. … I’ll take accountability for it. I hurt our chances to win that game. I’ll be better and I am better than that.”
