NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport calls a 2-4 week absence the “best case scenario” for Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield. He dislocated his right thumb in Sunday’s loss to the Vikings and is scheduled for further evaluation today. Rapoport added that Mayfield could be out longer depending on the ligament damage in his thumb. We should learn more about his status now, but it looks like Jalon Daniels will be the center for at least the next two weeks. The undrafted rookie can run, accumulating over 1,400 rushing yards in 6 college seasons, but has a long way to go as a passer. He completed just 61.5% of his passes in college at 7.8 yards per attempt. Expect a run-heavy attack from the Bucs with Daniels under there, making all the team’s pass catchers tremble in the fantasy bets.
