Eagles Injury Report: Saquon Barkley upgraded to limited

The Philadelphia Eagles released their second official injury report of the week on Thursday ahead of their Week 9 game against the New York Giants.

The Eagles have listed seven players under NOT PARTICIPATING: DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, Jihaad Campbell, Michael Carter II, Britain Covey, and Jonathan Jones.

Both Smith and Wicks are looking to miss their third straight game. With Covey looking unlikely to play, the Eagles will be going from Darius Cooper, Makai Lemon, Hollywood Brown, and Elijah Moore at wide receiver.

Campbell is tracking to miss his second straight game. Jeremiah Trotter Jr. will make another start at off-ball linebacker.

MC2 will likely be out after aggravating an abdominal injury in Week 8.

If Covey can’t play, look for Cooper DeJean to return punts.

Jones’ absence will leave the Eagles in need of a new top backup cornerback.

The Eagles have listed five players under LIMITED PARTICIPATION: Saquon Barkley, Tanner McKee, Jake Elliott, Jalyx Hunt, and Jonathan Greenard.

Barkley was upgraded to limited after missing practice on Wednesday. It doesn’t look good to me that Barkley is playing despite the obvious handicap and pain. Especially when the Eagles have a chance to sit him for this game before a Week 10 bye, giving him two weeks off. However, here we are.

McKee was dropped from full participation with a chest injury on Wednesday to limited with a rib injury on Thursday. Conspiracy theory: Maybe an injury was embellished here to stealth bench McKee being the emergency third quarterback? The Eagles might want Cole Payton to be the No. 2. now. Let’s see.

Elliott, Hunt, and Greenard were limited for the second straight day. They will likely play, though Hunt and Greenard will likely be on a snap limit.

The Eagles listed eight players under FULL PARTICIPATION: Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Dallas Goedert, Zack Baun, Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo, Markel Bell, and Kenny Moore II.

Mailata is a new addition to the report with an elbow injury.

Dickerson, Goedert, Baun, Davis, Ojomo, Bell, and Moore were full for the second day in a row.
