Vikings To Start Carson Wentz At Quarterback Against Bills

Heading into their Week 9 Monday Night showdown with the Buffalo Bills, the Minnesota Vikings are making a change at the quarterback position.

The team announced that Kyler Murray will be out this week with a hamstring injury, meaning Carson Wentz will take over under center when the team welcomes the Bills to town this week.

In Week 1 against the Packers, Wentz replaced Murray after he suffered a concussion early in the first quarter, and he also started the Week 2 matchup against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. He didn’t exactly put on the most artistic performances in any of those games, but they were effective enough to get the job done. Wentz threw three touchdown passes as the Vikings scored 39 points in their Week 1 win, and he didn’t return the ball in less-than-ideal Chicago weather as the Vikings beat the Bears in a 9-3 slopfest.

In the five games since then, the Vikings’ offense has struggled against teams that, by and large, it really shouldn’t be against offensively. The team has scored more than 20 points just twice in the last five games, and in one of those two games, they went over 20 because they got a punt return for a touchdown. The Vikings offense, for the season, has scored just 11 touchdowns in seven games, with five of them coming in a Week 1 win over the Packers.

We don’t know for sure whether moving to Carson Wentz will spark the Vikings’ offense or not, but the Bills are bringing the 30th-ranked pass defense in the NFL to the Twin Cities this week, so it doesn’t hurt to try to find out.

Once again, the Minnesota Vikings announced they will start Carson Wentz at quarterback this week on Monday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills. What do you think of this development, folks?
